Bradford City released eleven players yesterday following their relegation out of League One.
The Bantams slid helplessly down the table against a backdrop of boardroom upheaval and manager changes, eventually finding themselves relegated with four matches to go of the normal season.
Gary Bowyer was unable to prevent the drop, but he’s remaining with the club through the summer and is keen to sweep the deck of those he feels contributed to their horror season, or perhaps didn’t do enough to prevent it.
That means that Adam Chicksen, Ryan McGowan, Ben Wilson, Billy Clarke, Alex Jones, Nathaniel Knight-Percival, Calum Woods, Cameron Hawkes, Callum Gunner, Tom Clare and Paul Caddis are all now looking for new clubs
The news has been widely applauded by the long-suffering Bantams fans, who saw Edin Rahic removed as chairman, but not before the damage was done.
They’re now looking to the future, hoping for a promotion charge led by Bowyer and whoever he opts to bring in to the squad.
Get players in, who are up to the physical demands of League 2. That means big, fit and physical. How many teams get out of league 2 playing attractive football?…… Very few!!!!

Not overly upset about any of them except Caddis

Let’s hope there’s work going on behind the scenes to move on all those under contract too

Shame about @billyclarke7 as he would be great for another year. Also, pleased the @JermaineA96 has got another contract. He's showed some promise the fitter he gets. Pleased to see Shay McCartan get another chance. Has been great for Lincoln this season.

Good riddance to every single one of them, bar Billy Clarke, been a real servant to this club.

A lot of work for Bowyer this summer. Im guessing a lot of names we dont know mixed in with a few seasoned league 2 veterans. #bcafc

Positive steps from @gbowyer22 and the board. We may or may not agree with all the decisions but at least firm decisions have been made and it is a positive start to the closed season and the rebuilding that has to happen for our club to climb back to where we want it to be
