Mateusz Klich has been a star for Leeds United this season, with the Polish midfielder at the centre of everything that is going right for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

Leeds faced a midfield crisis on the eve of the Championship season, with Adam Forshaw picking up an injury. That setback opened the door for Klich, who in an advanced midfield role, has grasped his opportunity with both hands.

The 28-year-old has returned three goals in six appearances, as well as earning an international recall. Klich scored for Poland over the course of the international break, rounding off a marvellous start to the 2018/19 campaign.

However, things haven’t always gone well for the midfielder since his arrival in England, with it looking like Klich’s Leeds career might be over at the start of 2018.

Thomas Christiansen brought in Klich in the summer of 2017, but the midfielder only managed nine appearances for the Whites.

Included in that run was only one Championship start, with Klich enduring a tough night in Cardiff, as Leeds were beaten 3-1.

Klich was then involved in the humiliating 2-1 defeat to Newport County in the FA Cup, before Leeds decided to move the midfielder out on loan to FC Utrecht in the Dutch Eredivisie.

The Polish international impressed there, before working his way back into the fold at Elland Road.

In our latest FLW Rewind, we take a look back at the day Klich was shipped out on loan in January, with many of these supporters wrong to write off his spell in Leeds…
