Former Preston goalkeeper Chris Maxwell has left the club on a loan deal.

He has joined Edinburgh outfit Hibernian in the SPL on a season long loan.

There has been a fairly mixed reaction from the Preston faithful, with a few being happy that he is leaving and some others wishing him luck.

His loan deal will take Maxwell to the end of his contact at Deepdale.

The Welshman was a product through Wrexham, before leaving to join Fleetwood and then Preston North End. Upon his arrival, he was a key figure of the campaign and was the number one between September 2016 until January 2018.

Last year, he featured a lot less, and played just eight times in the Championship for Preston.

The club announced the deal via Twitter and through the website, where they added: "Everyone at the club would like to wish Chris the best of luck during his time with Hibernian."

Many fans weren't too bothered by the announcement of his departure, with one Twitter user not being particularly supportive by saying: "good riddance".

Another fan was looking towards the future, and more specifically the Preston link to Aro Muric, and called for the club to announce his signature.
