Birmingham City last night confirmed that Steve Cotterill has left the club with the side in the Championship relegation zone.

The former Nottingham Forest boss was back at his old club yesterday to take charge of what would be his last game. Goals from Joe Lolley and Matty Cash condemned Blues to a fifth straight league defeat and keeps them two points adrift of safety having played a game more than the sides above them.

Therefore, it came as little surprise when the news of Cotterill's departure broke hours after the game.

The decision has gone down very well with fans who felt relegation to League One was inevitable if the 53-year old remained in charge.

As well as Cotterill, five members of his coaching staff, along with director of football Jeff Vetere have left St. Andrew's in what is a major shake-up.
