‘Good riddance’, ‘Brilliant news’ – Why West Brom fans were right to be pleased as 31-y/o departed

Slaven Bilic had to make major changes at West Brom after he was named as Darren Moore’s permanent successor this summer and so far it seems as though his decisions have paid off.
Albion lead the way in the Championship with many new recruits impressing, including the likes of Matheus Pereira, Grady Diangana and Semi Ajayi.
To accommodate all the new faces, departures were inevitable and one man who left The Hawthorns in the summer was full-back Allan Nyom.
The former Watford man started off as a decent performer for the Baggies when he joined in the Premier League, however his performances started to dip rather alarmingly over the years.
Therefore, as this reaction shows, Albion fans weren’t bothered at all when he left to join La Liga outfit Getafe on a permanent deal this summer.
Any fee would be nominal compared to what that clown was worth.

I really had expected Albion to take the cheap option of keeping Nyom for this season. Impressed we've moved him on and replaced.

Brilliant News👍glad we’re starting to get rid of the deadwood and are bringing in fresh young players

Good riddance

And, you would have to say their reaction has been totally justified. With Nathan Ferguson emerging from the academy as one of the brightest talents they’ve had in years and Darnell Furlong settling in at The Hawthorns with ease, full-back has not been an issue.

With former England international Kieran Gibbs having to settle for a place on the bench it shows just how well stocked Albion are in that department right now.
Meanwhile, things haven’t been going superbly for Nyom in Spain. Whilst Getafe, who are playing European football this season, have had a reasonable start to the campaign, the defender hasn’t always impressed.
He has played a lot of games, although he was subbed at half-time in the last two outings for former Chelsea man Kenedy, suggesting that the coach isn’t too pleased with what he offers going forward.
It should be said that he has had some good moments in fairness, with a goal in the 4-2 win over Mallorca the standout.
Ultimately though, it looks as though it’s a move that suited all parties and West Brom have certainly not missed the 31-year-old as their own full-backs excel.
