Sunderland have confirmed that forward Wahbi Khazri has moved to Saint Ettiene on a permanent transfer for an undisclosed fee.

The 27-year-old joined the Black Cats in January 2016 and was an important figure as they managed to stay up that season.

However, he wasn't used much under David Moyes and fans questioned his attitude and professionalism.

Therefore, it wasn't a surprise to see the Tunisia international move on after the Black Cats were relegated to the Championship and he shone in France for Rennes.

And, having come back from the World Cup with his national team, Sunderland confirmed on social media this evening that the player has now moved back to France, joining Les Verts on a permanent deal.

Khazri is one of many big earners who the Wearside outfit have shifted so far this month, with more to follow as they seek to cut the wage bill.
