Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Cameron Dawson is set to sign for League Two side Exeter City on a season-long loan deal, Darren Moore has confirmed.

Speaking in a post-match press conference (quotes sourced from Yorkshire Live) after their pre-season friendly win over Port Vale on Tuesday evening, Moore confirmed the move is set to be confirmed, and will be hoping that he can learn from the experience.

"He will go down to Exeter and we won't leave him down on his own. We will be checking on him and seeing how his progress is coming on. He's a good goalkeeper. A fantastic goalkeeper. He has been out for a long time and a goalkeeper of his size and stature needs games."

Dawson was restricted to just nine appearances for the Sheffield Wednesday first-team last term, as they were relegated from the Championship after a disappointing campaign.

The shot-stopper is likely to have been pushed further down the pecking order in Darren Moore's plans heading into the 2021/22 campaign, as Bailey Peacock-Farrell recently moved to Sheffield Wednesday on loan from Burnley for the new season.

Plenty of Sheffield Wednesday supporters took to social media to react to the news of Dawson being set for a temporary departure from Hillsborough.
