Leeds United continued their impressive start to the new Championship season with a 2-0 victory at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

New boss Thomas Christiansen took over from Garry Monk back in June and has made a fast start to life in the Elland Road hotseat, with an opening weekend win over Bolton Wanderers followed by draws against Preston North End and Fulham, before they got back to winning ways at Sunderland ten days ago.

And they made it back-to-back league victories for the first time since March with an excellent 2-0 win at Forest on Saturday, with goals from Kemar Roofe and Ezgjan Alioski propelling the Yorkshire outfit up to third in the Championship, four points behind leaders Cardiff City.

And their fine start has also come amid the sale of star striker Chris Wood, who left to join Premier League side Burnley last week, and it had appeared that they were targeting a move for Middlesbrough’s Rudy Gestede in a bid to replace the New Zealand international, who scored 27 league goals last term.

However, recent reports suggest that they have ended their pursuit of the Benin international, which is news that has stimulated quite a response from Leeds supporters on Twitter.

And it’s fair to say that they are delighted with the news…
