Samir Carruthers is back in training and will be on the squad for Sheffield United’s clash with Norwich City at Bramall Lane, according to Leon Wobschall of The Yorkshire Post on Twitter.

The Irishman has been sidelined since being forced off with an early injury against Derby County, and his return to the fold will be a welcome boost for boss Chris Wilder’s men.

The Blades are in sensational form, and following their promotion as champions from League One last season, sit third in the second tier.

Carruthers joined from MK Dons in January and played a key role in the Blades’ title success, and the midfielder should be on the bench against the Canaries on Saturday.

The Verdict: Carruthers has become an important part of the manager’s plans since his move in January, and has already made 18 league appearances since the move.

The 24-year-old former Republic of Ireland U21 international was never really given a look in whilst on the books at Aston Villa, and has a lot to prove to his former side who let him leave for the Dons in 2014.

The player may struggle to force his way back into the starting XI though based on their current form, and Wilder would be foolish to change what has become an extremely effective, winning formula.

Expect Carruthers to come off the bench at the weekend, as he continues to build his fitness.

Blades fans, who would you consider dropping - if anyone - to get Carruthers back in the side?
