Millwall have had a shrewd summer so far in terms of transfer - and their business hasn't just stopped at signing new players.

Gary Rowett is looking to better an 11th place finish from last season's Championship, and on paper there looks to be a couple of play-off spots up for grabs and from what we've seen the Lions do so far this summer it looks quite promising.

Scott Malone has arrived on a permanent deal after his successful loan spell from Derby County last season, and he's been joined by the likes of Arsenal youngster Dan Ballard and Stoke City striker Benik Afobe, who is looking to have a prolific season after spending the previous campaign in Turkey.

There are a number of current players at The Den whose contracts expire next summer though and it will be important to get them tied down - including star man Jed Wallace - but one of them has now been sorted.

That is of Ryan Leonard, who remains the club-record signing having joined in January 2019 from Sheffield United and is an important player in Rowett's plans, however injuries have disrupted his last two seasons in a Millwall shirt.

The 29-year-old will be hoping that those bad days are behind him though as he has penned a new long-term contract - something that Millwall fans seem quite pleased about.
