Nottingham Forest are poised to let young striker Virgil Gomis leave the club to join struggling local rivals Notts County on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 19-year-old is extremely highly-rated at the City Ground but has failed to make an impact on the first-team as he continues to improve.

And, Nottingham Live have revealed that the next spell for the teenager will be a temporary move to League Two for the Magpies.

They are in a pretty dreadful position at the moment, sitting eight points away from safety with their Football League status under major threat.

So, they will hope that Gomis can have a similar impact at Meadow Lane as former Forest loanees such as Ryan Yates and Jorge Grant.

Whilst some Forest fans are happy to see their neighbours struggle after previous comments from the outspoken owner Alan Hardy, others wanted them to survive.
