Sunderland have confirmed that teenage forward Jack Diamond has joined non-league Spennymoor Town on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The League One club confirmed the news via social media on Friday afternoon with this message on their official Twitter feed.

It did not take long for Sunderland fans to react to the news and they were quick to wish the player good luck ahead of his move to the non-league team.

Diamond has been with Sunderland for a number of years and has made three first-team appearances this season, all of them coming in the Checkatrade Trophy.

The 19-year-old has impressed for the Black Cats' under-23 side this season and will be hoping to experience more first-team football during his time with the non-league club.

Spennymoore are currently third in the National League South and will hope that Diamond can help the club achieve promotion to the fifth tier.

Diamond is a versatile forward who can play anywhere across the front and on either flank and could prove to be a great signing for the non-league side.

Sunderland meanwhile are currently third in League One, just two points behind second-placed Barnsley and are hoping to finish the season with automatic promotion.
