Plenty of Charlton fans have taken to Twitter to react to Anfernee Dijksteel's farewell message after the defender left The Valley to join Middlesbrough earlier today for an undisclosed fee, as per BBC Sport.

The defender, who has signed a three-year deal with Jonathan Woodgate's side, featured on 39 occasions for the Addicks last season as they secured promotion to the Championship via the play-offs under Lee Bowyer.

A product of Charlton's academy, Dijksteel made a total of 59 appearances for the club over a three-year period with his final competitive run-out occurring in last Saturday's 2-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers.

Dijksteel's departure follows the high-profile exits of Joe Aribo and Patrick Bauer who both left Charlton earlier this summer after failing to agree to new terms.

Posting a farewell message to the Addicks on Twitter, the 22-year-old said: "Before I start this new phase in my career I want to thank all current and former staff of Charlton Athletic, as they helped me develop into the player I am today.
