Leeds United, along with Championship promotion rivals Aston Villa, have reportedly declared an interest in signing Newcastle United shot-stopper Karl Darlow.

The 28-year-old has made just one appearance for the Magpies this term and has been deemed surplus to requirements, having lost his place in the side to Martin Dubravka.

Reports from The Sun claim that the former Nottingham Forest shot-stopper could be available for a price of around £4million in January, with both Leeds and Villa actively in the market for a goalkeeper.

The latter have been linked with a host of goalkeepers to provide competition to Orjan Nyland, who has looked shaky on more than one occasion this term - Tom Heaton one of several names linked with a move to Villa Park.
