Nottingham Forest midfielder Ben Osborn could reportedly join Sheffield United in the next 24 hours after significant progress has been made on the deal and Forest fans appear split ahead of his exit.

Osborn made 44 appearances for the Reds last season, scoring twice and providing six assists, and was utilised in both defence and midfield.

The Blades were reported to have had a first offer of £3 million rejected but it appears the 24-year-old’s move to Bramall Lane is now close.

According to Nottingham Post journalist Paul Taylor, significant progress has been made over his move and the deal could be completed within the next 24 hours.

Chris Wilder’s side are understood to have submitted a fresh bid for the versatile midfielder, reported to be in the region of £5 million, and it is thought the deal is close to completion.

Osborn has just one year left on his current contract with Forest and it seems the club are keen to avoid losing him for nothing next summer.

The Reds academy graduate made his debut for the club in 2014 and has gone on to make 230 appearances.

New Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi has indicated that he would prefer Osborn to stay at the club but the latest developments have divided the City Ground faithful.
