Goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has left Sheffield United to join Arsenal on a permanent deal, the Championship club have confirmed.
Having previously been with the club as an academy player between 2013 and 2017, Ramsdale re-joined Sheffield United last summer from Bournemouth for a reported £18.5million.
Since then, Ramsdale has gone on to make 44 appearances in all competitions for the Blades, although he was unable to prevent them suffering relegation from the Premier League at the end of last season.
Have Sheffield United won or lost more games against these 25 English teams?
But despite that, the 23-year-old has now secured a swift return to the top-flight of English football, after it was announced that the goalkeeper has joined Arsenal on a long-term contract, with the Gunners reportedly paying a fee that could rise to around £30million.
Taking to Twitter to react to news of the deal, plenty of Sheffield United fans were understandably keen to give their thoughts on Ramsdale’s departure.
Here, we take a look at what some of those supporters had to say.
Cheers for the 30 million🤣Average keeper at best

And the club really showed a desire to keep him at S2? It suited the club as much as the player, the club were very keen to see him go 🤷🏼♂️ No need to make it sound like he’s forced it.

I wish Ramsdale all the best and will follow his career closely but not sure about this announcement. We all know we had to sell him to raise funds so why say he forced himself out. It may or may not be true but the board needed this to happen. Hopefully some gets reinvested.

Good business for once for SUFC. The funds need to go straight back into the squad rather than the back pocket! #twitterblades

It’s a shame to see him leave but we move on as a club, I hope @SheffieldUnited reinvest the money from his sale into some good players that we so desperately need, not just pocket it, squad needs improving and we can certainly better the squad with out ramsdale in it ⚔️

Proper devastated when Henderson went back and to be honest couldn’t care less about Ramsdale going, decent shot stopper yes but horrendous at corners, crosses or anytime the balls above head height #Twitterblades
