Charlton Athletic claimed their second League One win of the season by beating Wigan at the Valley yesterday and many Addicks fans have heaped praise on striker Chuks Aneke.

Jake Forster-Caskey's 65th-minute free-kick proved the decisive moment for Lee Bowyer's side as they beat the Latics 1-0 in south London.

Charlton have had a busy last few weeks of the transfer window, after having their embargo lifted following Thomas Sandgaard's takeover, but it was the performance of a few of their longer-serving players that proved key.

In addition to Forster-Caskey's match-winner, goalkeeper Ben Amos made a number of key saves and Aneke proved a nuisance for the Wigan defence all afternoon.

The 27-year-old started up top alongside summer signing Paul Smyth and was a key part of much of Charlton's attacking play for the first hour or so – registering two shots on target and making three key passes (Sofascore).

Do these celebrities support QPR, Watford, Luton or Charlton Athletic?

With Lyle Taylor leaving at the end of last season and Macauley Bonne joining QPR in the transfer window, Aneke has a chance to step up and become Bowyer's first-choice striker and he certainly seemed to impress plenty of Addicks fans yesterday.
