The Premier League have unanimously voted to resume contact training in a positive step toward the return of the 2019/20 season, which has drawn an interesting reaction from fans of the Yorkshire club.

It has been more than two months since English football ground to a halt but it has been reported that both the Premier League and Championship are optimistic about returning in June.

Top flight clubs took a step toward that return today by voting unanimously to resume contact training.

The Athletic's Phil Hay has remarked that the decision represents "another step forward" toward the return of the 2019/20 campaign.

Some Premier League sides have raised questions over the validity of relegation and promotion if the 2019/20 campaign cannot be concluded, which will likely have been a concern for Leeds – who are top of the Championship and frontrunners for promotion at the moment.

Additionally, Hay has warned previously that the Premier League is yet to clarify it's stance on promotion from the Championship if the 2019/20 campaign cannot be completed on the pitch.

This recent update, however, is a significant step forward towards the return of the Premier League and sets a precedent for the Championship, which bodes well for Leeds.
