Nottingham Forest began their pre-season schedule with a win on Saturday afternoon, defeating local side Alfreton Town by two goals to one.

It has been a whirlwind couple of days for Forest - the club parted company with Martin O'Neill on Friday, and they almost immediately appointed former Rennes manager Sabri Lamouchi as their new manager straight after.

The Tunisian was present to watch his side defeat Alfreton 2-1 on a scorching day in the East Midlands, where goals from youngster Brennan Johnson and Karim Ansarifard secured the win for the Reds.

The latter endured a mixed season last time out, making just 12 appearances following his move from Olympiacos, and finishing the season with two goals to his name.

But the Iran international has certainly taken his chance when it has come to him, and he has now started pre-season in exactly the way he would have liked.
