Eddie Nketiah was greeted with open arms at Leeds United in the summer, with the Elland Road faithful delighted to get their hands on an Arsenal youngster who was already making a splash at the Emirates.

Leeds battled hard to sign Nketiah toward the end of the summer transfer window, with the young England under-21 striker even taking part in Arsenal’s pre-season before sealing a switch to West Yorkshire.

With Ian Wright in his corner and a big fan, it is clear Arsenal see Nketiah as a star of their own first-team in the long-term, but, for now, he’s on the books at Leeds and looking to offer Marcelo Bielsa’s side something different in the promotion race.

He’s currently battling with Patrick Bamford for a starting berth, with both attackers popular figures at Elland Road.

For Nketiah, that popularity was there from the moment he was announced a Leeds United player…

So far this season, Nketiah has delivered four goals, despite spending his early days with Leeds playing second fiddle.

Goals came against Salford City and Stoke City in the opening two rounds of the League Cup, which Leeds are now out of, whilst Nketiah stepped off the bench to score the winner in a 1-0 win over Brentford in August.

Again, stepping off the bench, Nketiah proved to be the difference against Barnsley at the start of last month; volleying home the opener before winning a penalty that put the game out of the Tykes’ reach.

However, a first Championship start evades the 20-year-old, despite Bamford’s struggle for goals.

That’s led to reports in the Sun claiming that Arsenal are considering a recall, with the view to sending their young striker somewhere else in a bid to get him valuable game time. Bristol City are keen and may have a second stab at signing the youngster.

It’s a worry for Leeds and a headache for Bielsa heading into January. Yes, the head-coach isn’t going to cave to Arsenal’s demands – that’s not his style – yet, he’s got to consider that he needs Nketiah around this season, given his side’s lack of goals.

Arsenal have high hopes for him and Leeds’ love for Nketiah makes Elland Road a good place for him to be, but with talk growing surrounding his future, the Whites have plenty to ponder with their popular loanee.
