Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich had a huge part to play in his side’s 2-0 win over Hull City last night and turned on the style in the process.

The Whites were looking for their seventh straight victory when they welcomed Grant McCann’s Hull City side who were keen to cause an upset at Elland Road.

Leeds ran out 2-0 winners in a nervy contest under the lights thanks to goals from Hull’s Jordy de Wijs (own goal) and Gjanni Alioski. This win wasn’t without the collective endeavour of Marcelo Bielsa’s side who had to remain patient to break down the Tigers but also be wary of the threats they posed on the counter-attack with their in-form attackers.

It was a strong team performance that has been symptomatic of the way they have played this season but there were individual performances that continued to show why Leeds are a force to be reckoned with this campaign. One of those players was Poland International Mateusz Klich, whose tireless work in midfield helps Bielsa’s side at both ends of the pitch and paid dividends last night.

With Leeds 1-0 up heading into the last 10 minutes, Hull nearly scored from a corner before Patrick Bamford eventually cleared out wide to Kalvin Phillips. Phillips then released Klich who had 80 yards of the pitch to make up to get into the Hull box but did so with his cross finding Bamford, who struck the post to find Alioski who put the game to bed.

Not only was Klich’s running impressive, but he still had time to pull out the trickery in front of a home crowd:

Klich gestures to what appears to be the away dugout who were unhappy at him being awarded a foul, despite being brought down on the touchline.

Here, we take a look at how fans reacted to Klich’s cheeky skill and response on Twitter...
