Bristol City centre-back Adam Webster opened the scoring in his side's 3-2 pre-season victory against AFC Wimbledon last night and Robins fans were quick to heap praise on the defender.

The 24-year-old has reportedly been on the radar of multiple Premier League clubs this summer after his outstanding debut season at Ashton Gate.

Webster made 47 appearances for Lee Johnson's side, won two of the club's Player of the Year awards, and finished the season as the Championship's highest-rated defender, according to WhoScored.

Aston Villa were one of the clubs rumoured to be interested in the defender, who Johnson is understood to have set a £30 million price tag on, but it is believed that the Premier League are moving for Brentford's Ezri Konsa leaving a move for the Robins' man unlikely.

Johnson's side's preparations for the upcoming season are underway and the Robins travelled to Kingsmeadow for their second pre-season game yesterday.

City fans seem desperate to keep their man and many of the Ashton Gate faithful were quick to praise Webster after he nodded his side in front against the Dons, with some joking that it had increased his value further.
