York City  manager Nigel Worthington has revealed he is looking to bring in a midfielder that has proven to score goals by the end of the week.

Worthington has also revealed the club are in advanced talks with a player that fits the type of player the manager is wanting. Worthington says he wants to complete his summer transfers before pre-season starts.

York have already signed six players and they haven’t finished there as an attacking midfielder is in mind after York’s six midfielders only contributed to one goal in their 132 outings collectively.

Worthington said ”We are working on something at the minute and are hoping to make it happen as soon as we can,” Worthington explained. “We have done most of our business already but still have a bit more to do and it would be nice to get everything on place before we come back for training.

“I would definitely like to get one more player in and maybe look at another wide player. The number one target is a midfielder though and that’s what we are on with at the minute. We are looking for somebody who has scored a few goals from that area so we can add that to the group.” he added.
