Sunderland boss Jack Ross has made five changes for the trip to Accrington Stanley tonight as they look to close the gap on second-placed Barnsley.

The Black Cats are six points behind Daniel Stendel's men, but they do have three games in hand.

The first of those is tonight and Ross has decided to freshen things up as they look to bounce back from their Checkatrade Trophy final defeat on penalties to Portsmouth on Sunday.

Most notably, Lee Cattermole, the man who missed the crucial spot-kick, drops out, along with midfield partner Grant Leadbitter.

The other three players to miss out are Reece James, Lewis Morgan and the suspended George Honeyman.

They have been replaced by Denver Hume, Max Power, Dylan McGeouch, Lynden Gooch and Charlie Wyke, with the target man partnering Will Grigg up top in what should be a 4-4-2 formation.

It's fair to say the fans were happy with that and here's some of the reaction to the team news...
