The race for promotion from the Championship took another step towards completion on Friday afternoon, and it was Sheffield United who struck the first blow of the day as they ran out 2-0 winners over Nottingham Forest in the day's early.

After Forest's Yohan Benalouane was contentiously sent off early in the second half for bringing down David McGoldrick with The Blades striker through on goal, before goals from Mark Duffy and Enda Stevens sealed the win for Chris Wilder's side.

That results moves The Blades back into the automatic promotion spots on goal difference ahead of Leeds United, ahead of their game against relegation battling Wigan Athletic in the later kick off.
