Preston North End are interested in a move for Nahki Wells this summer according to BristolLive.

The livewire forward has fallen out of favour at Bristol City in the last season or so, but would bring a lot of pedigree at Championship level to Deepdale ahead of 2022/23.

The 32-year-old started just seven games for the Robins last term and has one year remaining on his contract at Ashton Gate, an exit could suit both parties this summer and North End may profit from that.

FLW's North End fan pundit Sam Weeden explained his stance on the possible incoming.

Speaking to Football League World, Weeden said"Regarding Nahki Wells, I just don't really see the thought process behind it.

"He is a similar age to Andre Gray, he's only two years older, but Andre Gray just seems like more of an appealing signing to me.

"Andre Gray despite just hitting double figures for QPR, it was in a short amount of games, whereas Nahki Wells only got three goals last year.

"He's 32 years of age, on massive wages at Bristol City, I just wonder why we should be signing players that other Championship clubs don't want.

"Obviously, five years ago I'd have been really excited about this signing, but in 2022 coming off the back of a three-goal season, it's not a signing that excites me.

"If it happens I'll support him and hope to be proven wrong, but signings like this, I just wonder what the thought process behind them really is.

"Because there's no evidence of a recruitment model in place, and I'd rather we go for other targets."
