With the transfer window now closed for permanent deals domestically, many clubs are looking to seal loan deals up until August 31st.

Burnley forward Nakhi Wells is a player who looks well out of the picture at Turf Moor, and could be set to depart on a season long loan.

The 28-year-old Bermudian looked like joining Derby during the transfer window on a season long loan following Burnley's pursuit of Matej Vydra as reported on Derbyshire Live, but that did not materialise.

So could £4.05m-rated Wells form part of Steve Bruce's promotion push? Would Wells be a good loan signing for Villa?

We discuss.....

Gary Hutchinson

Not for me, no. Villa have so many players who could do a job in the second tier, but they're not playing them.

Kodjia started up front this weekend, but what about McCormick? What about Hogan?

I don't see Wells as having anything about him that Villa don't already have in their ranks at no extra cost.

I'm sure there will be signings at Villa, but if Wells is one it won't be adding value.

Jay Williams

Once everyone is fit at Aston Villa, they probably do not need another striker unless he is really good - like Tammy Abraham, for example.

Wells does score goals at Championship level, but he would not get a massive amount of game time at Villa Park.

With Jonathan Kodjia, Keinan Davis, Rushian Hepburn-Murphy and Scott Hogan all competing when fit, where does that leave Wells?

Aston Villa are better off looking to strengthen in other areas using this loan market.

George Dagless

I think so.

Villa are looking strong but they might still need another proven attacking option.

They've good young players and Kodjia and Hogan, too, but I think looking at Wells to add to that would be a smart idea.

Jay Taylor

Definitely.

Villa need another striker to ease the burden on Jonathon Kodjia and Scott Hogan.

Wells knows the Championship and will score goals in that division whatever team he plays for.

The striker needs to play with his future uncertain at Burnley.

Steve Bruce could be the man to reignite his career.

Sam Rourke

Go for it.

The Villans need attacking reinforcements and Wells is surely set to leave Burnley on loan.

He's proven in the Championship and would be a top class loan signing for Wells.

Wells is hitting that time in his career where he needs to be playing regular first-team football, and Aston Villa could be a good platform for him to progress and play.
