Bolton Wanderers financial situation means that the club will have to consider serious offers for players in January, and one of those attracting interest is midfielder Josh Vela.

It’s no coincidence that the Trotters form has picked up considerably since the 23-year old returned from injury and several clubs are believed to be keeping tabs on the energetic player, including Sheffield Wednesday.

The Owls have seriously struggled this season and boss Carlos Carvalhal is fighting for his job after a sequence of frustrating draws, which has left them eight points away from the top six.

New additions will be required in January and as mentioned they’re believed to be chasing Vela.

But, would he be a suitable signing?

We take a look…

Sam Rourke

Sheffield Wednesday have an ageing midfield, and 23-year-old Josh Vela would be a great signing.

Vela has consistently shone for Bolton Wanderers over the year, and he has time to develop and mature as a player.

Go for it Carvalhal!

Alfie Burns

No, he isn’t what Sheffield Wednesday need in January.

Carlos Carvalhal’s squad is desperately short of pace and creativity, and all their efforts in January must go towards bringing that to Hillsborough.

A move for Vela would be a mistake.

George Dagless

Shouldn't Wednesday be looking elsewhere?

Not that Vela is a bad player but the Owls need something more offensive in January.

A new tricky winger would be ideal as they really lack width and ideas from the bench and on the pitch.
