Aston Villa have been linked with a move for Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos, with scouts reportedly watching the 21-year-old on Friday night.

The forward has been in clinical form for the Gers this season, notching an impressive eight goals in 13 matches for the SPFL side.

Would this be a wise move for the Villans?

The writers here at FLW have their say on this reported transfer rumour...

Alfie Burns

It is interesting to see Villa continue to be linked with strikers ahead of the January transfer window, with the latest Morelos.

Bruce clearly wants to strengthen his hand following Ross McCormack’s departure.

Keinan Davis and Jonathan Kodjia appear to be first choice, with the likes of Scott Hogan and Gabby Agbonlahor struggling for opportunities.

If Morelos was to arrive, could this spell the end for Hogan?

Chris Gallagher

Morelos isn't the answer for Villa yet.

The 21-year old was on fire for Rangers at the start of the season but has quietened down in recent weeks. He also wasn't at his best in the recent Glasgow derby against Celtic when he seemed constantly offside.

Rangers have a big semi-final game this weekend and another clash with Celtic before January and Villa should wait to see how he performs in those games before making a move.

George Dagless

He'd surely get goals.

The Rangers forward has eight in 13 this season and was in fine form for Helsinki before that so he'd likely hit the back of the net for Villa, too.

Whether he'd do so with such regularity remains to be seen but he has the bottle to score for a big club like Rangers and so he'd back himself to do the same at Villa Park.

Certainly worth a punt, go for it Bruce!
