Plymouth Argyle are struggling to adapt to life in Sky Bet League One, with Derek Adams’ side currently planted to the bottom of the table after 16 fixtures.

Argyle are unbeaten in their last four League One fixtures, and the signs are there that the club are beginning to find their feet.

Scoring goals seems to be the problem for Adams’ side, and Plymouth could use the January transfer window to bolster their attacking options.

One player who could be available in the New Year is Mallik Wilks, the Leeds United forward who is on a short-term loan with Accrington Stanley in League Two.

The 18-year-old has three goals across all competitions for Accrington, but with no deal in place for January, he could find himself elsewhere in 2018.

Our writers at FLW take a look at whether Plymouth should make a move to bring Wilks to Home Park in January.

Why not?

Plymouth are still fighting against the drop in League One and so if they can add extra goals that is only going to be a good thing.

Wilks has scored a handful for Accrington and would surely enjoy the step up and the challenge of helping Argyle stay in the third tier.

Let's see if Leeds go with it.

Plymouth are really struggling this season, somewhat surprisingly.

Therefore, they will need to improve in January and Wilks looks as though he could step up to League One.

Leeds would also prefer him to play at a higher level than he is currently at. He might not be the prolific forward Argyle need, but he could add to the squad.

Plymouth need something urgently in January, and Wilks could be a wise signing.

The man on loan from Leeds has impressed at Accrington Stanley, and his lively performances could be just what the Pilgrims need to freshen their side up.

Go for it Adams!
