Charlton suffered a sucker-punch loss last night to Bristol City, as Josh Brownhill's stoppage-time winner cost Lee Bowyer's side two crucial points.

The result at Ashton Gate has seen Charlton slip down to 10th, with 21 points from their 13 games.

Despite last night's disappointment, the Addicks boss has done a fine job since taking over the reins at the Valley in March 2018, amassing a win ratio of 51.2%.

Promotion from League One in his first full season in charge of Charlton showed he is well suited to management.

Despite being tipped as relegation candidates this season in the Championship, Charlton have defied their critics, occupying the automatic promotion spots earlier in the campaign.

Ex-Notts County and Crawley Town manager Harry Kewell has come out to praise his former Leeds teammate, as they worked together while the Australian coached the Watford under-21 side.

In an interview with The Sack Race, Kewell said of Bowyer:

"I think he’s now doing a fantastic job at Charlton. They are a huge club and they are exactly where they should be in the league but they’ve had a bit of a bad couple of years and I think it's fantastic how he’s brought stability especially on the park. He deserves everything he gets - hopefully, it will continue for him."

He continued:

"When I was at Watford, I brought Bow in for a spell and he was fantastic because as a player he was a midfielder that I enjoyed playing with. He was able to do the hard work but play as well, so I brought him in especially to look at my midfield at that time, and he helped me out. I learnt things off him."
