Callum McManaman’s move to Wigan Athletic has been confirmed, and the Sunderland fans have expressed their feelings towards the midfielder’s departure.

The 27-year-old made 27 appearances for the Black Cats last season, scoring one goal as they were relegated from the Championship.

Sunderland boss Jack Ross has worked hard this summer to rebuild the side ahead of a title tilt in League One, and McManaman is the most recent player to leave in the club’s clear-out.

The winger was halfway through a two-year deal at the Stadium of Light but has made a return to the Championship and a return to former side Wigan, signing an initial one-year deal.

McManaman spent six seasons at the DW Stadium before a move to West Brom and a loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday preceded a nightmare season at Sunderland.

With the midfielder off the books at the Stadium of Light and a new era being ushered in under Ross, the Sunderland fans have reacted to the news of the winger’s departure on Twitter.
