Sheffield United have been having a tremendous season so far under Chris Wilder, and they sit top of the table and look firmly set for promotion this season.

When Wilder took over in the summer, a huge job was on his hands in terms of rebuilding the squad and the overall mood at Bramall Lane, following a miserable spell under Nigel Adkins.

Wilder shifted out plenty of players and transfer listed a few others, and brought in fresh faces to complete a change of ethos around the entire club.

His tactic has worked brilliantly, and United look firm favourites for promotion. Part of the reason they have done so well has been Wilder's ability to get the best out of some players who perhaps haven't always got the credit they deserve.

With that in mind, FLW writer Lee Connor looks at TWO Sheffield United players who deserve a lot of credit this season...

Kieron Freeman

The full back was used to playing second fiddle to John Brayford, but Wilder has shown great faith in the right wing back and has been rewarded with some fine performances.

Brayford has been moved on, and Freeman has made the right hand side his own. His goals have been crucial and defensively he has looked well in what is a well balanced team.

Freeman is a firm fan favourite now, and is a key member of the squad who has far exceeded expectations.

Jake Wright

The summer signing from Oxford has been an absolute steal, and is yet to lose in a United shirt.

The central defender breeds confidence around him and his leadership skills are second to none. He has won 14 of his 16 games for United, drawing the other two, and his presence should not be underestimated.

If United are to seal promotion, then Wright simply must start for the club in as many games as possible.
