‘Give that man a knighthood’ – Wolves fans react to cup victory over Premier League opposition

Nuno Santo’s Wolverhampton Wanderers progressed to the third round of the League Cup after a late fight to overcome Premier League outfit Southampton at St. Mary’s.

Wolves were drawn against the Saints after their 1-0 triumph at Molineux in the opening round against Yeovil Town, but their momentum was halted having suffered defeat to Cardiff City last weekend.

Goalless at the break, the visitors took the lead when defender Danny Batth leaped above the opposition from a corner set-piece to bundle the ball past the goalkeeper, coming half-way through the second-half.

Then minutes before time, substitute Donovan Wilson found himself space and put his effort into the net, to ensure Wolves won the fixture and progressed to the following stage of the competition.

Supporters seem to be pleased and glad that confidence may be back after the frustrating loss last Saturday, this is how they reacted on Twitter at the full-time whistle……
