Gillingham sign former Brighton forward

Published

Gillingham have signed Brennan Dickenson on a two-year deal following his exit from Championship club Brighton & Hove Albion, the League One team confirmed on their website.

Dickenson started his senior career at non-league side Dorchester Town before joining Brighton in January 2012 for an undisclosed fee, but did not make a competitive appearance for The Seagulls.

However, the 21-year-old has Football League experience courtesy of loan spells with Chesterfield, AFC Wimbledon and Northampton Town – with whom he finished 2013-14 –  and has scored four goals in 31 league games overall.

The former Southampton trainee, who can play on the wing as well as in a centre-forward role, is the sixth signing made this summer by Gills boss Peter Taylor.

Goalkeeper Glenn Morris, defender Aaron Morris, winger Jermaine McGlashan, plus midfielders Doug Loft and Josh Pritchard, have also moved to Priestfield Stadium ahead of Gillingham’s 2014-15 season, which begins at Milton Keynes Dons on August 9.
