Gillingham release 12 players

Gillingham have released twelve players as well as offering new contracts to Adebayo Akinfenwa and Chris Whelpdale, while Danny Kedwell and Stuart Nelson have already signed two-year deals.

Charlie Lee, Steven Gregory, Myles Weston, Sam Muggleton, Craig Fagan, Sam Baxter, George Howard, Gary Borrowdale, Joe Carter, Adam Birchall, Stephen Butcher and the retiring Nathan Nyafli (forced through injury) have all left the club as part of a clear out from manager Peter Taylor.

A statement on the club’s website read: “Gillingham FC would like to thank all the players who are leaving the club for their hard work and dedication while with us, and we wish them the best of luck in their future.”
