Gillingham offer Adebayo Akinfenwa a new deal

League One club Gillingham have offered a contract to striker and fan favourite Adebayo Akinfenwa according to BBC Sport.
The 32-year old played 34 league games and scored ten goals this past season and helped the club in their bid for survival. The Englishman joined the club from Northampton Town on a free transfer in 2013 to start his second spell for the Gills.
Over his career Akinfenwa has played for 11 different teams including two spells at Northampton and Gillingham. Over his career he has become a fan favourite due to his evident size and abilities for a player of his stature to possess. His popularity exploded though as a result of the EA Sports series, FIFA.
Also, 25-year old winger, Chris Whelpdale has been offered new terms to his contract. The winger played in 28 games in all competitions this season. The news of these renewals came about as a result of the announcement of the retained and released list.
The following players have had their contracts terminated:
Charlie Lee, Myles Weston, Craig Fagan, Gary Borrowdale, Steven Gregory, Sam Baxter, Adam Birchall, Joe Carter, George Howard, Stephen Butcher and Sam Muggleton.
