According to The Birmingham Mail, Gianfranco Zola is reportedly interested in bringing Frosinone Calcio defender Roberto Crivello to Birmingham City as his first signing.
Gianfranco Zola took over from Gary Rowett as Birmingham manager on Wednesday and already has hit sights set on January arrivals with just two weeks left until the transfer window re-opens.
Roberto Crivello plays at left back for Frosinone Calcio, who compete in Serie B – Italy’s second tier of football.
Left back has been highlighted as a position which needs strengthening given the season-ending injury to Bournemouth loanee Rhoys Wiggins.
Jonathan Grounds is the only recognised senior left back on Birmingham’s books and Rowett was looking to bring in some depth in that department before he was sacked in the week.
And it looks like Zola’s first action in the transfer window could see him swoop for the 25-year-old Italian defender Crivello.
