Sunderland need to hit the ground running as they adapt to life in League One.

To do this, Jack Ross needs to tie down his promising players like young hotshot Josh Maja.

So should the Black Cats get their skates on and tie Maja down to a new deal ASAP?

We discuss.....

Jay Taylor

Of course.

Sunderland's focus is getting players out and getting players in but Josh Maja has scored two goals in two games, is highly rated and was first offered a contract in April before the takeover.

Nothing had changed since with the Black Cats’ eyes on other issues but they should be focused on tying down on of their hot prospects.

But him above the recruitment for a few days and make him feel wanted and needed.

The longer you leave it, the more undervalued he may feel.

Get the contract signed, it’ll give him a boost and he might end up scoring more goals.

Gary Hutchinson

Yes, I think they should.

All the talk of new forwards and being light up top has done the youngster a disservice.

He was thrown in at the deep end last season and, along with the rest of the squad, sank. This time out he’s looked energised and lively.

They won’t want to lose him on the cheap either, he is part of the future there and they should reward that quickly.

George Dagless

Yes.

He's started the season well and is scoring goals so they need to get him tied down.

He could well be one of their best players this season and in the years to come so the club needs to get it done asap.

Sam Rourke

Definitely.

Maja is one of Sunderland's most prized assets and it's clear he's going to have a bright future in the game.

Signing him up to a new deal would help fend away any potential suitors clamouring for the young striker's signature.
