Many Stoke City supporters have been urging Tyrese Campbell to sign a new contract with the Potters, following the forward’s performance in their 1-0 win at West Bromwich Albion on Monday night.

Campbell scored the only goal of the game inside the opening nine minutes, with a well taken finish from 12-yards out after Nick Powell picked out Tom Ince who squared the ball to the forward - and that proved to be enough for the Potters to record a massive win against the league leaders to lift themselves four points clear of the bottom three.

That was the 20-year-old’s fifth goal in 18 Championship appearances so far this campaign, and the forward is beginning to demonstrate that he can be relied upon to score goals on a regular basis if given regular game time by Michael O’Neill.

O’Neill had suggested in his first few weeks in charge of the Potters that he had reservations over whether Campbell could play as a lone forward, and so far he has been playing out on the right-hand side, but against West Brom he started up front in his natural position.

The only downside was that Campbell was forced off the field through injury in the 25th minute, and the Potters will be hopeful that the striker can recover quickly from that setback over the next few matches.

Campbell is out of contract at Stoke in the summer, and it looked at one point like a move away could be the best option for him, after he struggled to force his way into the side in the first few weeks of O’Neill’s tenure, but he is now firmly amongst Stoke’s most important players.

Here then, we take a look at what Stoke fans made of Campbell’s performance on social media…
