Kevin Wimmer is currently facing an uncertain future at Stoke City, with the end of the 2019/20 campaign drawing ever closer.

The Austrian centre-half signed for Stoke from Tottenham Hotspur in 2017, arriving for a reported fee of £18m and putting pen to paper on a five-year deal at the bet365 Stadium.

But the defender struggled to make an impact as the Potters were relegated from the Premier League that year, and Wimmer is yet to make an appearance for the club since.

He spent the entirety of last season on loan at Hannover 96, and this year, he is playing for Royal Excel Mouscron, making a total of 12 appearances for the Belgian club.

L'Avenir have recently fuelled speculation linking Wimmer with a move away from Stoke, with the media outlet suggesting that Wimmer's future lies elsewhere beyond this season.

Stoke's financial problems and their need to slash the wage bill have been well-documented in recent times, so getting a high earner like Wimmer off the books could be beneficial.

Here, we take a look at Stoke fans' reactions to the potential departure of Wimmer, on the Stoke City - Sentinel page on Facebook...

Mike Brindley: Don't think he ever played for them anyway. He may have made 27 appearances, but one could hardly class any of his performances as truly playing for the team.

Andrew Evans: The signings of these 2, plus a couple of others are the main reasons why we are where we are. For a club like Stoke it was a significant outlay & disastrous move.

Mark Kershaw: Wimmer and Imbula stories have been going on longer than brexit, just cut your losses and get rid.

Jonny Newby: Been stealing a wage since day one!

Matthew Cadman: Hope not!

Mathias Krøvel Guldbrandt: Stealing a living

Runar Kvernen: Two years left of his contract with Stoke...
