Aston Villa currently sit in seventh spot in the Sky Bet Championship after a decent start to the season.

Steve Bruce's excellent form came to an end last weekend though, as they were downed 2-0 by local rivals Wolves at Molineux.

The Villans employed a 4-4-2 system, however it was well and truly torn apart by Nuno Santo's fluid Wolves side.

So is it time for Bruce to deviate away from the 4-4-2 system for their clash with Fulham on the weekend?

Get rid ASAP!

Villa were overrun in midfield last weekend against Wolves, struggling to get hold of the ball at Molineux, which highlighted every flaw of a 4-4-2 system that so many avoid using these days.

Bruce needs to recognise Villa need an extra body in midfield, or there is no chance they will be competing for a Premier League return.

Yes, without a doubt.

Villa's formation hindered them at Molineux last week, they just couldn't get the ball. It was embarrassing at times.

They play a Fulham side tomorrow who are renowned for their passing and build-up play. Even though Villa are at home, you can envisage similar problems with a 4-4-2.

Bruce simply has to get the extra man in midfield to try and control the game.

I'm torn by this.

If Villa go 4-4-2 against Fulham this weekend then I think we're in for a humdinger because the game will be so open.

I also think it lends itself to the options that Bruce has available with Scott Hogan pushing for a start but I reckon we might just see him change it.

A 4-2-3-1 could be enforced to take care of Fulham's counter attack and Villa fans will just hope it carries enough fire-power - particularly with the game at Villa Park.
