It was a tight contest between Leeds United and Brentford at Elland Road yesterday, with Liam Cooper’s first-half header enough to secure three points for Paul Heckingbottom’s side.

The 1-0 victory was Heckingbottom’s first as Leeds head-coach, with the Whites clawing their way gradually back up the Sky Bet Championship table, although Bristol City can reopen an eight-point gap against Cardiff City today.

Cooper’s first-half header from Ezgjan Alioski’s free-kick settled the contest, although Dean Smith, Brentford’s boss, was furious at the winning goal, claiming Cooper was offside.

Smith also voiced his concerns over the length of the grass at Elland Road, claiming that it was too long to Phil Hay from the Yorkshire Evening Post.

As expected, Smith’s surprising comments on the Elland Road pitch have brought a reaction from Leeds’ supporters, who were left shocked at the accusations levelled at their club.
