Plenty of Derby County fans have taken to social media to discuss former Rams captain Richard Keogh and how his departure from Pride Park has impacted on the team's form.

Keogh has been one of the standout players for Derby over the past few seasons and made over 350 appearances for the club throughout his time at Pride Park.

The centre-back was sacked by the club earlier this season for 'gross misconduct', following his involvement in a car accident after a team night out, which saw his teammates Tom Lawrence and Mason Bennett charged with drink-driving.

The 33-year-old - who also sustained a season-ending knee injury in the crash - had the right to appeal against his sacking by Derby, but his appeal was rejected by the club last month.

Since Keogh departed Pride Park, Derby's inconsistent start to the season under Phillip Cocu has continued. The Rams are unbeaten in their last nine home games, but remain without a win on the road in the league since their opening game of the season.

They currently sit 16th in the Championship table, eight points outside the play-offs and are without a win in their last four matches.

A Derby supporter in the DCFC 1884 Facebook group suggested that Derby's form has failed to improve because the club are without Keogh.

The suggestion caused quite a reaction from Derby fans on Facebook, with many quick to comment on the post and give their thoughts. Here is a look at some of the best responses...

Scott Peach: Get over it mate, Keogh has gone, time to move on, we'd still be in this position with him, when the going gets tough he usually goes hiding anyway.

Adam Kemp: Who?

Luke Parzival: Change the record man.

Daley Tinsley: Keogh can't play regardless of sacking or not so what is your point exactly?

Steve Higgo: We are also without 2 other players that got us 28 goals between them alone last season, as well as an upcoming CB that has just walked into the Chelsea team without breaking a sweat, but not sure what your point is exactly?

Sean Stokes: We would be bottom 3 if Keogh was still playing.

Robert Keyworth: Also without Carson, Mount, Tomori and Wilson - what’s your point?

Janet Szczekala: It's the three loanees we are missing, not Keogh, he had a mistake in him every game, this team at the moment is poor.
