Sheffield Wednesday find themselves in hot water at this moment in time, with the EFL charging them with a breach of financial rules.

A statement came from the EFL on Thursday evening, stating that the Owls have been charged after an investigation into their Profitability and Sustainability (P&S) submission from the 2017/18 season.

Included in the statement is a note towards the sale of Hillsborough, which could also be a concern for Derby County and Reading in the future, after reports earlier in the season indicated that they sold their stadiums and leased them back to align with P&S rules.

Can you name every top Sheffield Wednesday goalscorer from last 15 seasons?

And, in response, Sheffield Wednesday have issued a short statement: “Sheffield Wednesday note the statement issued today by the EFL and the charges contained within.

“These charges will be vigorously defended and the Club will be making no further comment at this time.”

As expected, there’s been a lot of talk across social media from fans of a numbers of clubs, with the Hillsborough faithful offering response to their club’s reaction.

Some pointed fun at the situation of facing a points deduction – as Birmingham City did last year – whilst others had a message for owner, Dejphon Chansiri.

Here is a look at some of that reaction…
