Middlesbrough fell to a third defeat in four against Millwall yesterday and it leaves Garry Monk's men five points away from the play-offs.

Expectations were justifiably high in pre-season after a big summer spend, however Boro have struggled for most of the season and the pressure is seriously building on the manager.

Before a ball was kicked Chairman Steve Gibson bullishly stated Boro would 'smash the league' but it hasn't materialised and he will understand how important it is financially for the Teesside club to return to the top flight.

Goals from Jed Wallace and George Saville were enough for Millwall at The Den which condemned Boro to their eighth defeat of the season.

Understandably, fans are also very frustrated with many taking to social media to call for Gibson to make a change ahead of Saturday's clash against Sheffield Wednesday.
