Charlton Athletic manager Lee Bowyer continues to chase his top January transfer target, Peterborough United attacking midfielder Marcus Maddison, with just one week left to go in the window.
The Addicks looked to have hit a snag after they had a bid accepted for the 26-year-old, as the midfielder rejected the Championship club’s first contract offer, however according to Sky Sports Transfer Centre, it is now believed that contract talks are progressing (23/1/20 17:19).
With Maddison’s Peterborough contract up in the summer, the League One side look to get one of their key players out the door this January instead of loosing him on a free, with Birmingham City also having a bid accepted for the midfielder.
Since arriving at Peterborough in August 2014, Maddison has enjoyed a positive five-and-a-half years at the London Road Stadium, netting 62 goals in 249 appearances.
