According to the Mirror (16 September, Football pull-out, page 18), Stoke City will look to appoint Chris Hughton as their next manager, if they are to part company with Nathan Jones.

The Potters have endured a catastrophic start to the season, losing six of their opening seven league games and occupying bottom spot in the Sky Bet Championship table.

The pressure is definitely starting to pile on Jones, whose side succumbed to yet another defeat at the weekend. This time it was against Bristol City, who made their extra-man advantage count after Joe Allen's early dismissal.

But it looks as if Stoke could well be planning for life after Jones already, with the Mirror claiming that the Staffordshire club will turn to Chris Hughton if they are to sack Jones.

Hughton has been out of work since the end of last season, where he was sacked by Brighton and Hove Albion despite keeping them up in the Premier League for another season.

He has since been linked with the West Bromwich Albion job before Slaven Bilic took charge of the Baggies, but could now be targeted by the Potters.

The 60-year-old has been a successful manager in the second tier before, guiding Newcastle United and Brighton to automatic promotion in 2009/10 and 2016/17 respectively.

Here, then, we take a look at what Stoke fans have made of this managerial news...
