A number of Preston North End supporters have been reacting to the latest confirmation from the Lilywhites that forward Ched Evans has signed a new deal to keep him at Deepdale.

Evans was initially signed on a loan deal from League One Fleetwood Town in the winter window, before that was then made permanent until the end of the campaign. The experienced forward has managed to make a positive impact at Preston, despite the form of the Lilywhites having been largely underwhelming in the second half of the season which led to Alex Neil’s departure.

The 32-year-old has led the line well up front for Preston since his arrival and he has also managed to chip in with three goals in his 16 Championship appearances. That form had seen him be linked with a potential move to Middlesbrough in the summer, with Neil Warnock having reportedly been interested in him if he was going to be allowed to leave Deepdale.

However, the Lilywhites have now confirmed that Evans had penned a deal with the club that will see him remain at Deepdale until the end of the 2022/23 season.

Frankie McAvoy has insisted that it is a deal that has been thoroughly earned by the 32-year-old following the impact that he has had on the side since his arrival.

Many Preston fans were quick to hail this latest confirmation and suggest that Evans has managed to prove them wrong and fully earned the chance to stay with the club.
