A run of four straight defeats looks like it has put pay to any outside chances of a play-off place, with four straight defeats leaving Garry Monk's side in mid-table heading into the international break.

Even though there is still the spectre of a 12-point deduction hanging over then for breaking FFP rules, manager Monk cannot afford to take his eye off the ball especially with the contracts for key players up in the summer.

One such player is 31-year-old centre-back Michael Morrison, who has been a regular for Monk this season.

So should Birmingham tie Morrison down to a new deal in the summer?

We discuss........

Gary Hutchinson

“Yes.

“He’s been strong for them this season and they’ll need continuity into the next campaign.

“They will have to kick on, but surely they need to reward the key men from this season.

“Get him signed up.”

Alfie Burns

“You’d expect to see Birmingham move to make this happen.

“Of course, off-field issues might help this side’s development, but if you’re going to give Monk any chance of building something, his skipper deserves fresh terms.

“Not doing so could spell trouble.”

Jacob Potter

"They need to tie him down to a new deal ASAP.

"I have no idea why they’ve waited this long in the first place, and their delay could cost them dearly as he’ll be a player in demand.

"Monk shouldn’t even be contemplating not offering him a new deal."

Jay Taylor

“I think he will leave in the summer.

“Birmingham simply do not have the resources to give their captain a new deal.

“If they somehow get him to sign a new deal, then I would be amazed.

“But as of right now – he will be fair game in the summer for clubs to offer him a long-term future.”
